To be honest, I want to talk to you about a new game today, but I want to get nostalgic first.
More than ten years ago, I was a college student, holding a Nokia N95 and hiding in bed playing "Doodle Jump" and "Angry Birds". At that time, the mobile phone screens were pitifully small and the pixels were rough, but the game was so simple and straightforward - jump high and hit accurately, and you could have fun for a long time. Later, I started playing games with a little bit of strategy like "Crazy Tank" and "Metal Slug", and then came the prototypes of various cards and RPGs. At that time, there was no concept of krypton gold. Once you downloaded a game, you could play it and complete it. At most, you could spend a few dollars to buy some coupons to unlock hidden characters.
Looking back now, what I miss the most is the refreshing feeling of "taking it up and putting it down". No need to do any tasks, no need to watch ads, just open it and do it.
But games nowadays, to be honest, are getting more and more complex. The graphics are better and there is more content, but it still makes people feel tired.
Until yesterday, I accidentally tried "Mini Army", and suddenly I had the illusion of traveling back in time.
This game is a card + RPG, but the core gameplay is very simple: select a few generals, combine the units, and then operate it with one hand, and rush into the enemy formation to kill randomly. Skills can also be stacked randomly, and the more you play, the more powerful you will become. To be honest, I played the first game for half an hour and didn't stop. The feeling of satisfaction of "killing thousands of troops by one person" is just like using a stylus to explode a pig's head.
And it doesn't charge money. 0 yuan to download, no in-app purchase pop-ups to force you to pay. It's rare to be able to be so pure these days.
The developer is Hainan Jieyou. After checking, it seems that it is a small team, but the things it makes have the energy of old games. The storage requirements are not high, and it can run Android 5.0, which is probably to take care of older models.
Of course, the graphics are incomparable with current 3A mobile games, but they are better in terms of smoothness and rhythm. It reminds me of the madness of the pixel age in "Archer Wars", and also reminds me of the sense of accomplishment of one man standing in "Plants vs. Zombies".
If you are like me and occasionally miss the Symbian era when you didn't need to connect to the Internet, don't need to charge money, and just open it and enjoy it, you might as well give this one a try. At least it made me laugh out loud again on my commute. 😌
