In terms of graphics, as an SLG mobile game, Siege of the Three Kingdoms' city modeling and battlefield special effects are pretty good, especially the details of arrow towers and catapults during siege battles, which are richer than many mobile games of the same type. However, the UI design is slightly old, and the font and button styles look like products from a few years ago. The overall visual experience is above average. It is not amazing, but it will not dissuade you.
Gameplay is the core selling point. Thousands of people are shouting the slogan of instant battle. Through actual experience, the early stage of land reclamation does have a refreshing feeling of "taking over the city", especially the best red general redemption code (sg888 and the like) given at the beginning can allow you to quickly recruit a team of powerful generals, and the PVE map push is very smooth. The updated SP Liu Bei and Dragon escape gameplay in the new version also brings some freshness to old players. But the problem is that there are many common problems of SLG: starting from the mid-term, resource output is seriously insufficient, upgrading buildings requires crazy hoarding of materials, and resource points on the big map are quickly occupied by high-competition players, and players with zero krypton and low krypton can only stare. 😅
In terms of Krypton Gold, although it is marked as "Charging Mode 0", it is actually a typical "free download + in-app purchase" routine. Those gift pack codes worth 328 and 648 seem to be benefits, but in fact they are to stimulate you to continue to recharge, because without these redemption codes in the future, if you want to quickly improve your strength, you can only spend money. The probability of drawing cards for generals is also low. It is basically difficult to draw new generals like SP Liu Bei without spending money. This design has led to serious polarization among the player base - Kryptonians are having fun in the new activities, while civilians are farming and picking up waste.
The social mechanism is pretty good. The guild system supports hundreds of people's alliances, and the command voice and tactical cooperation during cross-server national wars can bring a strong sense of team belonging. This is also the reason why it can retain a group of core players.
To sum up why it is popular: the initial benefits are in place (those redemption codes can really attract attention), new content is updated frequently (puzzle activities, dragon gameplay), coupled with the Three Kingdoms theme and the appeal of the tens of thousands of national wars, it is easy to rush to the list in the early stage.
But it is also easy to lose: the SLG market is too huge, and similar competing products such as Land of the Sea and Romance of the Three Kingdoms Strategic Edition have already occupied core users. Siege of the Three Kingdoms lacks depth in gameplay and numerical balance, and the pressure for money is high, and civilian players are losing quickly. Once the benefits are exhausted and new content cannot continue to stimulate excitement, it will easily become a one-man show for a few kryptonians and then die. 😢
Rating: 7/10
Advantages: good welfare in the early stage, good social experience in the national war, diligent updates
Disadvantages: High pressure to earn gold in the middle and late stages, unbalanced values, and insufficient innovation in gameplay
If you are a casual player who is willing to spend money or like to hug someone, you can enjoy it for a while in the early stage; but if you want to be a prostitute for free for a long time or pursue a hard-core strategy, it is recommended to enter the pit with caution.
