Recently, I have seen a lot of people talking about film and television adaptations in the film and television fan section, but today I want to change my taste and talk about a mobile game "Tomb Notes" that I just finished. Let me start with the conclusion: If you like suspense and puzzles, don't have high requirements for picture quality, and can tolerate some old-fashioned operations, this game is worth a try. I give it 7.5/10.
Screen: 7 points. To be honest, when I first saw this style, I thought it was a product from five years ago. The character modeling is cartoonish, but a lot of effort has been put into the scenes. The spooky feel of the ancient tombs, the details of the murals, and the design of the mechanisms can all be seen that the production team is working hard to create an atmosphere. However, the light and shadow effects and physical feedback are quite awkward, and the animations of falling to death and stepping on traps are so repetitive that it makes people laugh. However, considering that it is a free game, the graphics level is considered to be above average, and at least it will not dissuade you from giving up.
How to play: 8 points. This is the part I want to praise most. The entire game is centered on puzzle solving, interspersed with light action elements. You need to control the three characters of Madron, Mai Xiaogu, and Mai Xiaomi, and switch character abilities between different mechanisms, such as Madlen's strength to break through, Mai Xiaogu's flexibility to drill holes, and Mai Xiaomi's observation of flaws. This setting gives the level design a sense of hierarchy. The difficulty of the puzzles is gradual, without the perfunctory feeling of mindlessly clicking the screen, nor is it so difficult that you want to drop your phone. In terms of plot, the tombs of the Han and Tang dynasties hide mysteries, and the uncle and nephew dig up family secrets along the way. Although the twist is not amazing, with the collected note fragments, a complete and terrifying truth can be spelled out. This is very interesting for me who is a plot addict.
Krypton gold: 10 points. Completely free, no in-app purchases, and no physical limits. This must be appreciated. There are too many games on the market that claim to be "free to solve puzzles". After playing the third chapter, ads will start popping up asking you to top up money. However, "Tomb Notes" is clean from beginning to end, and there are no even forced ads. For this reason alone, I can give it full marks.
Social: 5 points. There are basically no social functions, you cannot add friends, there are no rankings, and there is no team play. It is a pure stand-alone experience, but this is not a shortcoming for a puzzle game, but is more suitable for immersive play. If you like to show off your achievements and interact with people in games, then this may not be for you.
Overall rating: 7.5/10. The advantages are obvious: it's free, the decryption design is thoughtful, and the plot is complete. The shortcomings are also direct: the screen is old, the operation feel is average, and the social interaction is zero. If you are the kind of player who likes to burn your brain but doesn't want to spend money, or you happen to be interested in the tomb theme, you can play it casually, and it won't hurt anyway. But if you're looking for big production or a smooth action experience, it's better to take a detour. One final reminder, remember to turn on the sound when playing. The background music and mechanical sound effects are the hidden highlights of this game, especially the sound of the coffin lid moving...I was scared three times in one game. 😅
