To be honest, the first time I saw this game, I was reminded of the days when I held my Nokia N-Gage in the Symbian era and played "Skyscraper" and "Snake" in a dark bed. At that time, there was no concept of "survival in the apocalypse". A Java version of "Resident Evil" was enough to keep me busy for half a year.
I'm not going to brag about it, but in the more than ten years of mobile game development, I think I've seen all kinds of games. From the earliest pixel-style survival game "Desert Island Survival" to various later sandbox games known as "big production", many of them are under the banner of doomsday, but in fact they just reskin the collection and construction set. But the game "Ace War" really surprised me.
The most interesting thing is that it compresses the life cycle to a very short setting. In the past, when I played survival games, I would often save files for hundreds of days. The development was wretched in the early stage, and the equipment was crushed in the later stage. To be honest, it was a bit boring. "Ace War" goes in the opposite direction, treating every game as a real survival challenge. Collecting supplies, finding weapons, clearing zombies, and grabbing victory badges are all as tense as pulling a string.
I really think the setting of sea, land and air amphibious operations is okay. In the past, when playing this type of game on mobile phones, it was basically just facing the land, and at most you could use a small boat to paddle in the water. "Ace War" simply stuffs helicopters, armored vehicles, and speedboats into the game. They can fly in the sky, run on the ground, and swim in the water. Often you are still thinking about how to sneak attack Lao Liu, but in the end an armed vehicle comes up behind you and crushes you. This uncertainty emphasizes what it says: you are the hunter and the prey.
Of course, as an old player, I still want to mention the current situation of the industry. Nowadays, many mobile game companies are doing subtraction, wishing to simplify the operation to automatic hang-up, but the krypton gold system is becoming more and more complicated. Although the company Hero Interactive Entertainment cannot compare with those old companies that made stand-alone high-quality products, at least this time it did not follow the crowd in terms of gameplay innovation.
From the Saipan era to now, I have witnessed the ups and downs of too many mobile games. Some games were highly praised at the time, but ended up being inactive after half a year of operation; some were silently making many interesting attempts but no one paid attention to them. Whether "Ace War" can last long depends on subsequent updates and operations. But now this courage to break the rules really makes an old man like me see some shadows of the past.
If you are like me and miss the pure fun of gaming, you might as well give this game a try. Perhaps, it can help you regain your original passion for fighting against others for an equipment box. A game should have such a soul in it.
Anyway, as an old player, I am ready to continue playing. I just don't know if there are any old brothers who played dungeons together in the past. After seeing this post, they will think of coming to me to form a team haha 😄
