The most fascinating thing about this type of game is the tension of being alone in a small area with limited resources and enemies on all sides. It's either a zombie siege or a monster invasion. In short, you have to bear it all by yourself. When playing, my whole body was tense, my ears were straightened up to listen to what was going on around me, and the gun in my hand was my only support.
Let's talk about the classic “Long 4 Dead” series first. This one should need no introduction. A team of four people cooperates to fight zombies, which can be called a textbook-level confrontational shooting. Although it is not a closed single room, the oppressive feeling of being chased by a zombie wave has not been surpassed by many games so far.
Another example is "Plants vs. Zombies". Hey, don't laugh, this is actually a variant of survival shooting, except that your weapons become plants. Use pea shooters and watermelon shooters to snipe the zombie army. It is very imaginative. The rhythm is brisk and magical. It belongs to the type that you can't stop playing once.
There is also the pixel-style "Soul Knight", which features dungeon crawling and shooting. The weapons and equipment are all kinds of strange, and combined with randomly generated levels, it feels fresh every time you enter the map. It is especially suitable for picking up two in a spare time.
But the one that really got me hooked recently is another game called "Extreme Challenge - Crazy Agent". This game is very interesting, with a pixel art style but a 3D first-person perspective. The scene is a closed room, with hordes of zombies coming from all directions. What you have to do is to use various weapons and traps and barriers in the terrain in this limited space to defend and output, and wipe out all incoming enemies. When playing, there is a refreshing feeling of "one man is in charge and ten thousand men can't open it".
The arsenal of weapons is huge, ranging from knives and axes for close combat, to long-range pistols, rifles, and possibly even heavier ones, which can be unlocked and upgraded by earning gold coins through levels. And it's not just ordinary zombies. There are also many bosses with special abilities in the game. Fighting is a test of movement and reaction. After each fight, it is like experiencing a small battle blockbuster, and your palms are all sweaty.
In addition, the game also adds some management elements. You can use the money you earn to build a secret base and improve your combat power reserve. It is equivalent to fighting monsters and supporting your family at the same time, which is quite nurturing. I like this setting very much. It makes fighting monsters not just for scores, but also to truly gradually build yourself into a doomsday survivor.
If you also like the experience of being surrounded, surviving in desperate situations, resource management and firepower confrontation, this "Extreme Challenge - Crazy Agent" is worth putting on the supplementary course list. After all, who says pixel art can't have exciting first-person shooting?
Okay, that's it for this survival shooting inventory. I don't know if you have any masterpieces of the same kind that you have treasured in your heart. You are welcome to post them in the comment area. I have been short of games recently. 😏
