To be honest, people my age have played 800 games, not to mention 1,000. From playing Java games on a Nokia in the Symbian era, to the popularity of smartphones later, and all the way up to now, there are not many games that can make me calm down and write a long review. But the game "Horse to Guard the Sky" really surprised me.
Let's first talk about how we got to know this game. I was really bored a while ago. I searched through the app store and couldn't find anything that suited my taste. It was either a pickup card or an automatic combat hang-up. Each one seemed to be carved out of the same mold. I came across this game by chance. The introduction said it was about Three Kingdoms tower defense and also included dungeons for treasure hunting. To be honest, I was dubious at the time. Tower defense with the theme of the Three Kingdoms has long been popular. I have seen Q-version cartoons and funny paintings. But I clicked in and looked at the screenshots. The realistic style was quite interesting, so I downloaded it and gave it a try.
Not to brag, but what stands out to me the most about this game is its tower defense gameplay. It is not the traditional way of placing towers to guard the road, but the map is wider and the paths are more complex. Many times you have to think about where to place the tower to gain the highest profit. Moreover, it is not just about building the tower, but also manually controlling the hero's position and skills, which is a bit like an action game. For old players who are used to traditional tower defense, this micro-management element does bring a lot of freshness.
Let's talk about this dungeon treasure hunting mode. I thought it was a gimmick at first, but when I started playing it I found it actually had some content. There are treasure chests, mechanisms, and patrolling monsters hidden in each map. You have to defend and explore at the same time. You must not only ensure that the defense line is tight, but also consider how to search for resources more efficiently. To be honest, I haven't experienced this kind of oppressive dual-line operation in mobile tower defense for a long time. In one level, I was chased by the BOSS all over the map. While flying skill kites on him, I had to consider the allocation of tower positions. My palms were sweating. The tense and exciting feeling was a bit like playing PC games back in the day.
Another point worth mentioning is the PVP mode, Tower Raiders. I've played a lot of tower defense games with battle modes before, but most of them were just about stacking values, and whoever has higher combat power wins, which is boring. This game is different. You send troops manually, and there is a restraint relationship between the types of troops. You have to look at what your opponent will do before deciding what you will do. It feels like a game. Moreover, the setting of a unified world server means that you may be matched with real players from all over the world, instead of fighting against robots. This must be praised. Of course, it's not easy to master this mode. I was tortured several times at the beginning, and then I slowly got the rhythm.
There are also many people playing the national war and camp systems in the game, but I personally prefer the PVE and duel modes, so I won't comment too much on them. But overall, the content of this game is definitely rich in the same type.
Finally, let's complain about some minor flaws. As the levels advance to the middle and late stages, the difficulty curve becomes a bit steep. Many levels require three-star clearance, which requires you to have a certain amount of hero training and equipment accumulation. If the Zero Krypton Party wants to clear the level with all three stars, it will indeed take a lot of time. Fortunately, the game is not overly demanding and can be overcome by time grinding, which is relatively friendly to civilian players.
To summarize. If you are tired of playing the same reskinned games and want to find a mobile game that really requires your brain and has some operational content, "Horse to Guard the Sky" is worth a try. Especially for those who like the Three Kingdoms theme and tower defense gameplay, I strongly recommend you to join the game. Being able to see this kind of carefully crafted tower defense work in 202x, as an old player, I feel quite emotional.
That's all, I'm going to brush up on equipment. If you have brothers who play together, you can leave a message downstairs and we can add a friend to learn from each other. Everyone is also welcome to talk about their respective Samsung lineups. 😄
