Let's digress a little bit first. I have been playing stand-alone for so many years, what do you want to do? The picture shows a person quietly immersed in the world. There is no ranking list to remind you, no event countdown, and no guild group calling you to join the group online. I can pause the game at three o'clock in the morning to get a glass of water, and then come back and continue to squat behind the bunker, thinking about whether my shell should hit the track or the turret. That sense of control and calmness is something that many so-called masterpieces nowadays cannot provide.
But the game "Armored Frontline", I can honestly say, at least in the category of "vehicle shooting", it gave me some sense of solidity that only existed in the stand-alone era. Cars are cars, and guns are guns. There are no fancy ARPG skills everywhere, nor will you be forced to top up to unlock VIPs in the first ten minutes. The vibration of the tracks running over the road when the tank is driven, the rhythm of the reloading of the artillery shells, and the opening and closing of the field of view in the scope, the feel is basically genuine and has the flavor of an old-school war game.
Of course, an online game is an online game, and it inevitably has seasons, task chains, and various online activities. I don't wash it. But what's interesting is that the production team may know that players are afraid of being cheated by krypton gold games. The legendary tank T84 featured in this new version is actually not the kind of toy for the rich that mindlessly piles up values. It has an active skill "Position Defense System". To put it bluntly, it makes you more stable when squatting in a pit. It relies on armor and damage to survive, rather than relying on flying and running around the map. The T84 car feels more like a "heavy firepower turret" to me, which is suitable for veteran players like me who don't like to mess around and like to play steadily and find opportunities to deal damage.
If you want to say that it has no krypton gold points at all, you are lying. But its current payment model seems to tie "becoming stronger" and "technology" together, and there won't be such a thing as charging 100,000 yuan to kill the entire game in one fell swoop. At least a zero-Kryptonian like me can still be valuable on the battlefield by buying parts to upgrade armor and slowly accumulating cars. This is much better than some of the garbage on the market that says, "If you don't recharge, you will be my gaming experience."
After all, I still think stand-alone games are the real utopia for players. But if you occasionally want to experience the excitement of a battle of wits and courage with real people, but don't want to be forced to go online at work, the current version of "Armored Frontline", especially after the addition of T84, can be tried. It's not perfect, and there's still room for optimization in the feel of opening the box and the numerical balance of the armor modules, but at least it respects my time and my skills.
I will continue to go back to my single-player pit to mine, repair ships, and drive Gundam, but maybe at the end of each season, I will go back to the front line to fire two cannons. If not for anything else, just for the exhilarating feeling of "I squat in the pit for ten seconds and I can decide the world with one shot." This game is worth staying and checking out for the time being. 😌
