To be honest, as an old guy who has been playing games on mobile phones since the Symbian era, seeing the reskinned Three Kingdoms SLG filling the screen now, I was already a little numb. But after trying "Three Kingdoms Mobile 2" for a few days, it reminded me a lot of the days when I would sit in front of the small Nokia screen and play JAVA Three Kingdoms games.
Let me first talk about what impresses me most about this game. With this setting of Famous General Only, I feel that something has really been done. There are too many Three Kingdoms games on the market now. Each player has only one Zhao Yun and Zhuge Liang, and it is no fun to play. There is only one general for each general in this game. If you want to catch the only famous general in the server, you must have strength and luck. This is very similar to the old days of conquering cities and territories. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but this alone puts it ahead of many similar games.
Let's talk about the gameplay level. The core cycle of siege, plunder, and capture of generals is just that. Compared with the previous games I've played, The siege of a certain land and a certain story, the siege feeling of this game is more direct. It doesn't need to lay out too many twists and turns. You can just do it when you want, which is more refreshing. Of course, it may not be that complicated in depth, but it is also suitable for office workers like me, and I won't be too tired to play in fragmented time. The interoperability between mobile phones and PCs is also good. It is very convenient to hang up the computer at home and collect resources on the mobile phone when going out.
However, this game is not without its shortcomings. To be honest, although it can be seen that a lot of care has been put into the picture, compared with the flagship SLG from the first-tier manufacturers, the modeling precision and special effects are still a bit behind. In addition, some of the guidance in the game is not good enough, especially the alliance gameplay. I was a little confused at the beginning. Another point is that since we are attacking the city and capturing the generals, there will definitely be situations where the big R will crush them in the later stage. This may be a polarizing experience for civilian players. I hope the official can adjust the balance better, otherwise it will become the back garden of krypton gold bosses again.
Speaking of the most surprising part, it is the design of PVP gameplay such as bounties and arenas. Different from the ordinary SLG that is purely based on numerical values, here it is more about a battle of wits, and it all pays attention to how to match generals, how to set up formations, how to use terrain and timing. I tried to use a team of third- and fourth-tier generals to defeat two core generals on the opposite side in the arena. That sense of accomplishment, wow, really brought me back to the feeling of studying the lineup with my mobile phone ten years ago.
There is also the Battle of the Royal City and the Battle of the Imperial City, which are the highlight of the later period. To be honest, it is difficult for an independent player like me to participate in a large-scale battle with hundreds of people, but it is quite interesting just watching the various alliances in the world channel strategizing and cooperating. Just like watching others play WAR3 in an Internet cafe, you don't have to get started, just watching it makes you feel passionate. The title system and achievement system in the game are also relatively generous, and it feels like you are slowly conquering the country. 😄
In general, "Mobile Three Kingdoms 2" can be regarded as a unique one in the Three Kingdoms SLG category. If you want to say that it is a hit for so and so, it will definitely not be the case. After all, every game has its own audience. But it does retain some of the hard-core flavor of the old SLG in this era of card placement and automatic combat. If you are an old player who has played the Three Kingdoms for more than ten years, or are tired of playing reskin games that make you invincible after paying money, you might as well try this, maybe you can find some of the feeling back then.
Finally, let me sum it up: I'm not going to brag about it, but it's worth spending a weekend trying. Even if you don't play it, it's still good to reminisce about the feelings of the Three Kingdoms back then. After all, in our generation's youth, no one has dreamed of dominating the world. 🗡️
