Text after a blank line
I was diving in the "Emotional Literature" section yesterday and saw many people debating how to rate a game fairly. It just so happens that I have been playing "Apex Tank" recently, so I will use this game to talk about my own scoring standards.
When I rate, I never look at feelings, studio reputation, or the popularity of promotional videos. Just four dimensions: graphics, gameplay, monetization, and social interaction. The full score for each dimension is 10 points, and then combined according to the weight, the picture is 20%, the gameplay is 40%, the krypton gold is 20%, and the social network is 20%. This calculation can avoid being biased by a single bright spot, and can also prevent being rejected by a single shortcoming.
Let's talk about the picture first. The graphics of "Apex Tank" are average to the upper level on the mobile phone. The details of the tank model are quite good. The turret rotates and the tracks raise dust. The helicopter also has a sense of airflow disturbance when flying. However, the texture resolution is still a bit blurry when viewed closely under a high-magnification lens, and the explosion effects occasionally appear through the mold. I'll give it a 7.5. It's not amazing but it's definitely not a drag.
Then there is the gameplay, this is the big head. The 12v12 land and air battle, a mix of tanks, armored vehicles, and helicopters, is a bit interesting to be honest. The tank feels steady and has inertia in its steering, while the helicopter is flexible but can be easily shot down. There is indeed a restraint relationship between different vehicles, and it is not a mindless shooting. However, the positioning of teammates in AI mode is sometimes confusing, and the matching mechanism will occasionally give you a few obvious hangups. The core battle rhythm is quite compact, with a game lasting five to eight minutes, which is suitable for fragmented time. I give it 8 points.
In terms of money, you can play this game for 0 yuan, but if you say it costs no money at all, I don't believe it. The gap between gold coin cars and ordinary cars exists objectively, especially for high-end cars. A rich man with two fully equipped helicopters can really suppress it. However, it is not impossible for civilians to gradually develop by saving parts through missions. At least in the mid-to-low-end games, they can still make up for it through operation. The score I gave is 6.5 points, which is not a compulsion, but it is a common mobile game routine to play for a long time or to lose money.
The social aspect is a bit awkward. There is a legion system, you can also form a team to play black, and voice communication is more convenient. However, the text chat atmosphere in the game is average, and the world channel is basically recruiting and showing off, lacking the kind of atmosphere that can express feelings. After all, this is a confrontational competitive game, not a relationship development. However, playing black games with friends is indeed twice as fun. I give it a 7 points.
To put it all together, the score is 8 times 40% plus 7.5 times 20% plus 6.5 times 20% plus 7 times 20%, which equals 7.5 points. This score is considered to be above average among the vehicle shooting mobile games I have reviewed. It does not reach the level of a masterpiece that makes people forget to eat and sleep, but as a competitive mobile game with a modern warfare theme, it can indeed satisfy some of the fantasies about tanks and helicopters.
Finally, I want to say that the scoring criteria are inherently subjective. Some people value the plot, some value the operation feel, and some only care about whether it is free. What I insist on is to split the dimensions as much as possible, score each dimension separately and then weight it, so that at least others can know how I got my score. If you also want to rate "Apex Tanks" or other games, you might as well try my method and compare your intuitive feelings. Maybe you will find that the controversy is not that big.
Okay, I'm going to start a game. This time I fly a helicopter, I hope I won't be shot down by an anti-aircraft missile from the opposite side 😂
