To be honest, I was attracted by its name at first. Ares, the God of War in Greek mythology, sounded very interesting. After actually getting started, I found that this game is much more interesting than I thought.
The game tells the story of Neo, a member of the special operations team, who goes deep into an abandoned research institute to retrieve research reports and antibody samples. But this is not a simple tug tug game, survival is the core theme. Just like in a real apocalyptic world, you have to collect all available resources, build shelters, craft weapons, and take care of your stomach and wounds.
What I like most is that the details in the game are so realistic. When you are injured, you need to be bandaged, when you are hungry, you need to find something to eat, and you need to gather materials to even make a bow and arrow. I remember one time when I went to hunt wild boars with my bare hands, I was beaten all over the ground and found teeth. Later, I learned my lesson and honestly made weapons and equipment before I dared to go out. This research is set in the apocalypse, and every step is filled with tension.
There are many NPC villagers in the game who need help. In this desolate world without laws and morality, it feels really special to be able to hold on to your own kindness and help those in need. Although collecting supplies is important, being a kind person in the apocalypse is also protecting the bottom line of being a "human being".
