Not to brag, I have been playing this game for a whole week, and my biggest feeling is: finally there is a team that dares to do "subtraction". Take a look at the so-called MMOs on the market today. When you enter, you will find automatic pathfinding, automatic battles, and VIP privileges. You can't wait to put food in your mouth. "Selet Continent" simply requires you to manually turn over every stone and talk to every nook and cranny of the NPC to find Easter eggs. This "clumsy" sense of exploration, to be honest, reminds me of the stupidity of looking for treasure boxes one by one in a strategy book when playing "Dragon Quest" on the Nokia N-Gage.
It may not be fair to compare it with our "Time Hunter". After all, one is a side-scrolling action game and the other is an open world. But just talking about the dungeon design, the gap is obvious. The dungeon of Time Hunter is all about "coolness". One skill can clear out a wave of monsters, and the special effects are all over the place, which really relieves stress. But the PVE of "Selet Continent" is more about "grinding" - you have to watch the monster move forward, calculate the skill cooldown, and even use the terrain to block the position. Especially in those boss battles, a fool can't survive for three minutes. He has to predict two or three moves like playing chess. This kind of frustration that requires using my brain makes me, an old ASS, find a long-lost excitement.
Of course, there are also shortcomings. Its hits are on the "hard" side, not as smooth as Time Hunter's combos; and the map is so big that sometimes you get lost and feel like falling asleep while running around the map. In addition, the operator, Shanghai Chisen, is relatively low-key and has a slow update pace. It does not hold activities and give out benefits every week like big manufacturers. But think about it from another angle, at least it doesn't force Krypton - I can still get through the main line by operation with zero charge. Today in 2025, it can be regarded as performance art.
Finally, I would like to say that when we played the 256-color pixel game on the Symbian machine, we could play it for an entire afternoon on one battery. Nowadays, the performance of mobile phones has increased a hundred times, but there are few games that can make me put down the charger. If you are tired of playing "office-style" mobile games every day to clear your daily routine, you might as well come to "Selet Continent" to find the urge to continue walking purely because "there is an unknown ahead". Anyway, I found in it a bit of the itchy feeling I had when I was flipping through the guide book, and that was enough. 🕹️
