I was watching SNK's live broadcast a while ago, and they mentioned that the skill frame rates of some fighters will be adjusted in subsequent versions. The specific list was not detailed, but it is estimated that someone will be banned again. To be honest, my biggest feeling when I saw the 3D RPG version of King of Fighters World from the KOF series is that the competitive ecology of this game is actually a bit tied up by the big framework of "MMO".
Everyone who has played it knows that although King of Fighters World focuses on free cities and plot completion, the core rankings and peak matches still depend on the strength gradient of the fighters. In the previous versions, Mai Shiranui had ridiculous close range suppression, and coupled with the awakening passive after the combo was canceled, it was really killing at low levels. I improved her points last month, and I felt like it didn't take much thinking. The Migrant Company could knock out half of the opponent's HP. As long as the version of this kind of strong suppression of heroes is not cut, there will always be nine out of ten games in the arena.
But therein lies the problem. After all, the game is a large-scale MMORPG. Its numerical growth and equipment system follow the character level. Unlike what we see in KPL, each version adjustment only affects the operational details and tactical system. The competitive environment in the King of Fighters world is quite demanding. If the version update only adjusts the skill frame number and judgment box, but does not change the numerical weight of equipment runes, it may still be the group of veteran players with high combat power who dominate the list in the end.
I personally really hope that the subsequent version will have a "Fair Arena" mode, which is similar to leveling the attributes of fighters, purely for understanding operations and combos. After all, the old foundation of the KOF series is still there, and the fighting ashes fans can still come up with a lot of tricks. Nowadays, 3D free perspective is indeed more complicated to operate than traditional 2D fighting, but the game feeling of "I predict your prediction" can still achieve competitive depth in MMORPG as long as the number of frames is good. 😤
The other thing is the pace of version updates. It's okay to go slower. Our domestic players are frightened by the "weekly big versions" of various mobile games. They change skill descriptions at every turn, strengthen today and weaken tomorrow, and have no time to develop play styles. Although the LPL next door also talks about the version, at least professional teams can still play BP games based on the edges of the version. In the King of Fighters world, you have just mastered a wall combo, and the bulletin board tells you that the frame number will be changed, which is very uncomfortable.
Anyway, judging from the current experience, the foundation of the King of Fighters world is good, the IP is full of emotions, and urban exploration is also fresh. I hope the operators can listen more to the voices of competitive players. After all, no matter how good-looking the illustrations of the fighters are, what ultimately matters is whether they feel comfortable fighting and whether they are fair or unfair. Everyone, which character do you think should be on the adjustment list now? I bet on Daimon Goro, pure Earthquake plus Heaven and Earth Rebellion, every time I catch him, he is accurate, the recent version control time is a bit too long. 🤔
