I just closed the game, rubbed my sore neck, and realized I stayed up all night again... I clearly promised myself I'd sleep after this round, but one round led to another, and the sky was already bright. Sigh, a night owl's biological clock is truly hopeless.
In fact, I don't usually play shooting games, I find them too noisy and stressful, but this game, 'Ready for Combat Shooting,' is a bit different. It's not the kind where you just mindlessly shoot and rush, it's actually very rule-oriented. Every time I encounter an armed thug, my first instinct is to shout 'Drop your weapon' or 'Don't move,' before I dare to raise my gun. At first, I kept forgetting and started shooting immediately, which resulted in pitifully low scores and teammates railed at me over voice chat, saying 'You're not a SWAT, you're a bandit'... It's unfair, I was up all night and my brain just wouldn't function 😭
But once I got into the game, it really gave me a strangely immersive feeling. In the game, if you get shot, you die, and if the enemy gets hit by your bullet, they basically die too, so you have to be extremely careful at every step. Before breaking a door, you must stay close to the wall; if you hear movement inside, you stop and listen; if teammates call for cover, you must immediately follow. Several times I even felt like I wasn't just lying in bed holding my phone, but actually wearing heavy gear, nervously sweating in my palms in the hallway.
The most intense round was at 4:30 a.m., when I led the team to rescue hostages. I was so sleepy that I accidentally fired a shot, and a thug at the window sniped me. The moment the screen went dark, I was completely awake and scared enough to throw my phone on the bed. The cat next to me jumped and gave me a glare before leaping away. Even worse, my teammates didn't revive me because I had shouted 'Drop your weapon' too slowly, and they judged it as a mistake on my part... Alright, this game is realistic enough to punish even mistakes.
But honestly, I really like this kind of 'slow-paced' tension. It's not about monsters jumping out to scare you, but about letting you decide every move. Perfect for playing alone late at night, quietly breaking doors, giving commands, subduing enemies, and then letting out a sigh. Occasionally, I imagine that if I were a real SWAT officer, I'd probably be dead on the first day... but at least in the game, I can replay over and over, trying to be a more reliable teammate.
Alright, the sky is already greying, time for me to draw the curtains and sleep.Tonight's all-nighter game record is twelve successful missions, seven deaths, three times being scolded by teammates, and once successfully shouting 'Don't move' as 'Don't stay up late.' Hopefully next time I can die a few less times, after all, at this rate, my score might be worse than that of a trainee officer... Good night, no, good morning, night owls of the forum. Are you all still staying up late, or am I the only one dreaming of being a SWAT officer before dawn? 🐱💤
