As a tactics enthusiast who has been working outside the KPL commentary desk for years, I've recently found some of the thrill of seeing the old patch answers change in Faerie Side Story. The new season balance plan recently released by this game honestly surprised me. It's not a perfunctory update with just two or three percent changes, but rather a direct reshuffling of the six major factions on the operating table.
I think Tiance Mansion's changes this time are fundamental. Previously, Tiance had high output efficiency, but honestly, it was a bit brainless—just stand still and cycle skills well, and you'd deal damage. Now, Po Jun's Spear Intent now requires forward pressure to get the full bonus, which means Tiance players have to carefully consider their entry timing and can't just camp in the backline and farm skills. This change is quite clever—it gives frontline melee a clearer tactical position, and also lowers the win rate of Tiance players who are used to AFK in turret positions. From a competitive perspective, this kind of change that forces players out of their comfort zone is actually the best way to improve match quality.
But what interests me more is the location of Medicine King Valley. Many teams now use double healer lineups because Medicine King Valley's healing efficiency combined with Putuo Mountain's resurrection shield is solid, but the new version adds a debuff that deepens consumption for Medicine King Valley's high-speed units, which is quite interesting. It restricts playstyles that treat Medicine King Valley as a pure stationary healing pack. If you want to use skills frequently, you have to risk being more vulnerable when focused on fire, so teams must make more protection trade-offs around Medicine King Valley. With this resource contest appearing, the battlefield rhythm has noticeably tightened.
Spider Cave should have room to rise in this patch. Their crowd control is too high; during the silence of the initial chain Gu, combined with Lion Camel Ridge's aggressive entry force, they can create a very beautiful tempo wave. Previously, Spider Cave's burst had a very obvious pre-release shake, but after the change, the casting distance has been slightly adjusted. I have noticed many pressure builds in high-level matches. If Dragon Palace's wave-clearing speed gets nerfed in the future, the fast attack synergy centered on Spider Cave could very well become the new meta's answer. After all, in this game, whoever controls the midfield control wins half the match.
Of course, what I care about most is whether version balance will become overly correct.Completely understand the nerf to Dragon Palace; after all, in the last two versions, Dragon Palace's one-hand AoE ice skill crowded out the output space for other ranged classes. But this time, they added a penalty threshold to Dragon Palace's mana control recovery mechanism, which forces commanders to calculate carefully before engaging in combat. If this change is implemented too strictly, it could lead to some physical formations lacking stable control being completely sidelined. This is a very delicate balance test. Observing the environment for over a week, mixed formations still dominate, and there's no outright winner so far. You could say the developers were pretty restrained this time.

Honestly, balancing a competitive direction in mobile MMO games is quite difficult. On one hand, you need to consider the experience of casual players—you can't tune everything to the standards of top-tier players. On the other hand, you have to ensure league-level spectacle and tactical depth. At least this update for “Xianling External Tales” offers a relatively gentle approach: using skill interactions to drive formation trade-offs rather than just crushing low-tier factions with raw numbers to restrict class participation.

I really enjoy an environment where there's something new to figure out every week, like discovering new formations and strategies in matches—it's addictive. At least now, after each guild war, everyone re-examines configuration counters instead of sticking with the same old routines. If you also like studying combat strategies, this version is really worth coming back to try out. 😏
