My heart skipped a beat—I thought he was going to report me. But instead, he pulled out his phone, and on the screen was Luffy's ultimate move effect in full view. Turns out this guy had already been slacking off to the Grand Line and had secretly formed a pirate crew, logging in every lunch break while the boss is napping to fight for dominance at sea.
Even crazier, yesterday afternoon I was crouched in the corner of the break room running a dungeon when I suddenly heard a familiar background tune coming from the boss's office. I peeked in, and the boss was leaning back in his chair, phone in portrait mode, fingers flying—good grief, he's playing this too! And his team even has Red-Haired Shanks, fully awakened—definitely spent money on the game. I nearly burst out laughing; turns out the boss is a true "Sea Fan" too, lecturing us not to be on our phones while secretly being an enthusiastic "captain."
Things have now gotten subtle. Old Wang told me that when cross-server battles start, we need to avoid the boss's server, just in case we end up in the same one; we don't want trouble. But I think, since the boss is playing too, if I get caught slacking off in the future, maybe I can just say: "Boss, I'm helping you gather resources for the peak battles!"
"One Piece: Strongest Road" is truly a perfect game for slacking off—it's turn-based, easy on the hands, and you can even gain experience while AFK, unlike those mobile games that burn you out until 2 a.m. Perfect for us workers. Plus, the IP is spot on; when Luffy shouts, “I'm going to become the Pirate King!” it instantly brings back memories of chasing the anime back in the day. Now when work wears me out, I sneak in a game, summon Zoro or Chopper, relive classic scenes, and all the day's fatigue melts away.
Anyway, slacking off is one thing, but if the boss is playing too, what do I have to be afraid of? Just as long as he doesn't see me playing within his line of sight… though come to think of it, next time I run into the boss in the break room, should I pretend to ask him, “How do I quickly awaken Big Mom?” Waiting online, it's kind of urgent 😏
