To be honest, when I first saw the name, I thought it was some kind of barbecue restaurant game. But when I clicked in, I realized it was a sorting puzzle game, where you separate mixed ingredients on skewers by type—for example, all the mushrooms on one skewer, all the slices of meat on one skewer, all the green peppers on one skewer. Once everything is categorized, you pass the level.
The gameplay is really simple: you just tap the skewer to move the top ingredient onto another skewer. There's only one rule: only the same type of ingredient can be stacked together, and there has to be space on the skewer. Sounds easy, right? But playing it can really mess with your mind, especially late at night when your brain isn't very sharp. I often get stuck while moving things around, then stare at the screen for three minutes, thinking, 'Where did I just put that green pepper…?' But fortunately, you can always restart anytime, so even if you get stuck, there's no need to panic. You can just reorganize your thoughts and try again. It's especially perfect for someone like me who's both clumsy and loves playing.
I don't know if you have this feeling, but playing this kind of slow-paced mini game late at night actually gives a kind of wonderful sense of healing. There's no countdown, no stamina limit, and nobody chasing you from behind, just quietly arranging the sticks one by one. Every time the last ingredient is in place and all the skewers are neatly aligned, you really feel a sudden sigh of relief in your heart—ah, that feels good. It feels just like tidying up a messy desk, and along with it, the messy troubles in your mind seem to be sorted and put in order as well.
Also, the art in this game is pretty cute. The ingredients on the skewers are drawn plump and round, and the mushrooms and meat slices look very appetizing. Just looking at them makes you a bit hungry… but since it's the middle of the night and you can't eat, I just poured myself a glass of water and kept playing. Oh right, another advantage is that it can be played with one finger, making it especially comfortable to play while lying down, unlike action games where you have to sit up and swipe the screen.
Anyway, I was just going through the levels one by one, and before I knew it, I heard birds chirping outside the window... and I had stayed up all night again. I clearly have to get up early for work tomorrow, but how should I put it, when playing this game, it really feels like the whole world quiets down, time passes especially quickly, and it's as if all those restless, anxious feelings are threaded onto little sticks, and then I neatly put them away one by one.
In short, I recommend it to friends who also like to hide away and play games late at night. If you can't sleep, or your mind is feeling restless and you want to find something to distract yourself, you can try this 'BBQ Sorting Puzzle.' Don't worry, you can restart anytime if you get stuck, just like those not-so-smooth days we have—don't be afraid, you can always start over. Good night, no... I mean, good morning, I'm going to sleep now 🌙
