Slacking off is not easy, fellow workers. The boss is on a business trip today, and I spent the whole afternoon slacking off openly. I have to share a stress-relief tool I recently discovered.
This game is called 'My Sword Cultivation Diary.' At first, I was attracted by its slogan, which said something like even demons cultivate, and you can ascend after lying down for seven days. I thought to myself, lying down for seven days? Isn't this tailor-made for us working people? I decisively downloaded it to try.
Let's talk about the core gameplay first. You know the traditional cultivation mobile games—it's either meditating or grinding dungeons, which is exhausting. But this game takes an unconventional approach. You collect a bunch of monsters from the Classic of Mountains and Seas as your followers, like Taotie and Nine-tailed Fox, and they cultivate alongside you. As for your character, the main thing is flying around on a sword, roaming freely between the mortal world, the spirit world, and the immortal realm, with quite a beautiful scenery. The best part is its offline rewards: your character continues to cultivate while you sleep. I tried leaving it running before leaving work on Friday and checked it on Monday morning—my experience had increased massively. There's really a joy in getting stronger while doing nothing.
Regarding the hands-on experience, I have to say it's extremely friendly for working people. I usually just open it during lunch break to gather some resources, see what the monsters have brought back, and send them on a task. When the boss isn't around, I sneak in a quick session; I can finish my daily tasks in five minutes, which doesn't interrupt work at all, and there's no feeling of being 'kidnapped' by the game. Plus, it's free to play—without spending any money, you can gradually progress through the maps, with no malicious design that forces you to pay. The Nine-Tailed Fox's artwork is pretty nice, and my current team relies on her as the main character, so I've hardly ever been stuck progressing.
Of course, there are some downsides as well. The later gameplay can be a bit repetitive, mostly just idling to collect crops and level up monsters. If you're looking for battles with strong hands-on control, you might find it a bit boring. Also, the monster development path is quite long, so collecting the full compendium takes time and patience. However, from another perspective, this is actually perfect for people like us who don't have large chunks of free time; making a little progress each day puts less pressure on us.
Sharing a little tip: don't waste resources randomly in the early stages. Prioritize leveling up your main monsters. Don't stress too much about equipment, just follow the main storyline. Also, about sword flying—tap it more often when you have free time. Sometimes it triggers random events that give good items. Just last week, I got a rare material for free, which was great.
In short, this game emphasizes being relaxing, not forcing grind or spending money, suitable for workers to slack off at work or relax in bed after work. Slacking off is not easy, so cherish it while you can. The boss is back, I'm leaving now, see you all in the game, fellow players. 🐟
