Moderator, don't delete this yet. I know this is a music sharing section, but the clinking elimination sound effects of this game really kind of have the vibe of the old Tetris BGM 🎵
Back in the day, there were no smartphones yet. I used to squat in front of my cousin's Famicom playing Tetris, and I'd play all afternoon. Later came the Wenquxing, Nokia, and JAVA mini-games—things like Bejeweled, Bust-A-Move, and Zuma; if it was a matching game, I probably played it. Now when I see 'Container Pop' from Shenzhen Leyou Games Technology Co., it's free, the platform says 5.0, and suddenly I feel like an old friend has come back 😂
The gameplay isn't complicated; you just swap adjacent container icons, and three or more of the same kind disappear. It sounds simple and is easy to pick up, but don't think you can pass the levels by blindly tapping. There are special items and obstacles in it. Some levels block your way with a bunch of wooden boards, chains, or ice blocks, and you need to figure out how to clear the surrounding icons first to remove the obstacles. The first time I played through more than ten levels, I was just focused on making three-in-a-row matches, and ended up running out of moves before completing the goals, which made me bang my thigh in frustration. Later, I learned to be smarter: first look at the level objectives, then check the positions of obstacles. If you can make four- or five-in-a-row matches, don't rush for threes, and save special items to use when stuck. The effect is similar to saving up a bomb to blow up Zuma balls back in the day.
What are the advantages? It's free, costs nothing, the levels are short, and you can play a few rounds while waiting in line or for the bus. The graphics aren't stunning, but icons like crates, cranes, and hard hats feel down-to-earth, and the elimination sound effects are crisp. Playing with headphones can be somewhat addictive. As for the drawbacks, some levels later on are quite luck-based, and there's probably going to be ads—after all, the payment model is free, so we can't expect them to operate entirely on goodwill. It would be even better if there were fewer pop-ups.
Here are two little tips to share: First, don't start by clearing the middle right away; look at the edges and around obstacles first, because chain reactions are often hidden there. Second, don't use special items alone; putting two together often clears a large area, just like the lightning item in Bejeweled. When stuck at a level, don't force it—take a break to calm down, and you might pass it in just three moves when you come back.
In short, this game is nostalgic for us old folks who have played from the Famicom all the way to mobile games, and it's also suitable for young people to try. There's nothing flashy, it's just match, match, match—simple and stress-relieving. Fellow players who have tried it, let's chat—what was your first match-three game back in the day? Mine was Tetris on the Wenquxing, I wore out the buttons 🕹️📦
