Slacking off at work isn't easy, so I'll secretly do it when the boss isn't around. Recently, I found a mobile game suitable for slacking off at work called 'Hua Rong,' named after the TV series. I originally thought it was another one of those re-skinned card games that forces you to spend money to climb the ranks, but after playing for two days, I found that, hey, it's actually quite suitable for people like us who play in short bursts of free time.
Let's start with the core gameplay, which is collecting character cards from the show and then arranging teams to progress through stages. The cards have different attributes and skills—for example, some are meant to tank damage, some deal damage from the backline, and some provide healing support. Team composition requires a bit of strategy but isn't too brain-intensive; even someone like me, who doesn't bother analyzing stats, can just randomly team up and get through. Tasks like the arena, daily dungeons, and partner trials can basically be auto-played, truly achieving 'tap your finger, get your resources.'
The best part is the idle system. In the morning, I just set it up at the office, then work peacefully. At lunch, I check it once, collect some resources, and level up my cards. In the afternoon, I continue running it, and collect again before leaving work. I don't have to keep staring at the screen the whole time; when the boss walks by, I can just switch to a work document without any problem. I tried it yesterday, and in half an hour of lunch break, I cleared three dungeons, drew cards twice, and got a purple card. Not super lucky, but you know the joy of getting something for free.
Here are a few tips to share: Before AFK, remember to set up your formation properly, prioritize upgrading your main damage dealers and healers, don't spread your resources evenly, or you'll get stuck on stages and it will be frustrating. For daily dungeons, auto-clear whenever you can, don't do it manually, it saves time. Also, for the companion trials, they give a good amount of experience, so remember to do them daily; you can do them casually while idling. Don't get carried away with pulling cards; after all, it's an idle game, just accumulate slowly. I'm zero-spending and still playing quite comfortably.
There are also drawbacks: you might get stuck later on, and the cultivation cycle is long, but casual players who aren't chasing the leaderboard don't really care. The card illustrations are decent, fans of the show should like them. I skip the storyline, mainly just looking for a relaxing time.
In short, Huāróng is suitable for brothers who don't want to grind, don't want to spend money, and just want to sneakily collect resources at work. Slacking off isn't easy, so cherish it while you can. When the boss comes, I'll retreat first. 😎
